Indication:

Relieves occasional constipation

Dosage (adults >18 years):
  • A single dose is 17 grams and should be taken once a day or as directed by your physician.
  • Lax-A-Day® should be used for one week or less or as directed by a physician.
Directions for use:

Note:

  • This product is supplied with a dosing cup marked to contain 17 grams of powder when filled to the indicated line.
  • Pour 17 grams (about 1 heaping tablespoon) of powder into the dosing cup. Stir the powder in a cup (250 mL) of water, juice, soda, coffee, or tea until completely dissolved. Drink the solution.
  • Treatment for 2 to 4 days may be required to produce a bowel movement.
Warnings/Precautions:
  • Patients with symptoms suggestive of bowel obstruction, appendicitis, or inflamed bowel (fever, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, or bloating) should consult a doctor to rule out these conditions before initiating Lax-A-Day® therapy.
  • Taking more than the recommended dose of Lax-A-Day® may cause loss of fluid or dehydration due to severe diarrhea.
  • Should unusual cramps, bloating, or diarrhea occur, consult your physician.
  • This product should be used for one (1) week or less or as directed by a physician. Prolonged, frequent, or excessive use of Lax-A-Day® may result in electrolyte imbalance and dependence on laxatives.

Before taking Lax-A-Day®, tell your doctor or pharmacist:

  • If you have ever had any allergic reaction to medications, food, etc: about your medical conditions and medications.
  • If you are pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding.

Storage:

Store in a dry place at room temperature (15°C to 30°C). Keep this and other drugs out of the reach of children.

Indications/Description:

For comfortable relief of occasional constipation.

Dosage:
  • Adults : 2-4 tablets at bedtime or maximum twice a day.
  • In pregnancy and children (6-12 years): 1-2 tablets at bedtime or maximum twice a day.
Warnings/Precautions:
  • Do not administer to children under 6 years except on the advice of a physician.
  • Do not take any type of laxative for more than a week unless advised by a physician.
  • Do not use any laxative when abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, or fever is present without consulting a physician.
  • Do not use with other laxatives. A laxative should not be taken within 2 hours of another medicine because the desired effect of the other medicine may be reduced.
  • Use only when needed.
  • Overuse or extended use may cause dependence for bowel function.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
Storage:

Store between 15°C and 30°C.

LAX-A NEMA®

Each 100 mL of solution contains: Monobasic Sodium Phosphate 16 g, Dibasic Sodium Phosphate 6 g.

Format:

Single dose unit containing 130 mL of solution. Each unit delivers 120 mL when used as directed.

Ingredients:

Medicinal Ingredients: Monobasic Sodium Phosphate, Dibasic Sodium Phosphate.

Non-medicinal Ingredients (alphabetically): Benzalkonium Chloride, Disodium EDTA, and Purified water.

Indication/Description:

For relief of occasional constipation. Lax-A Nema® is a single-dose enema in a ready-to-use, hand-size, disposable, squeeze bottle with a prelubricated rectal tip.

Dosage:
  • Adults and children 12 years and older: 120 mL (delivered dose).
  • Children 2 to 12 years: 60 mL as a single dose.
  • Children under 2 years: Consult a doctor.
Directions for Use/Administration:
  • For rectal administration only.
  • The preferred positions are lying on left side with right knee flexed (Sim’s Position), or in the knee-chest position.
  • Self-administration may be carried out with the individual lying on a towel on the bathroom floor or in a bathtub.

 

Note:

  • Enema does not require warming; may be used at room temperature.
  • Remove protective cap from prelubricated rectal tip before use. Insert the tube gently, pointing it in the direction of the navel.
  • Slowly squeeze bottle to empty contents into rectum. Withdraw the tube. (A rubber diaphragm at base of tube prevents accidental leakage and assures controlled flow of the solution. An extra amount of solution is provided to allow for the quantity normally remaining in the bottle after squeezing.) Body position should be maintained until a strong urge to defecate is felt; contents of bowel should then be expelled.
Warnings:
  • Do not use in the presence of abdominal pain, nausea, fever or vomiting, cardiac disease, severe dehydration, or debility.
  • Frequent or prolonged use of enemas may result in dependence for bowel function.
  • Use only when needed or when prescribed by a physician.
  • Elderly persons are more sensitive to the effects of enemas and are more likely to show signs of weakness, increased sweating, and convulsions.
  • Do not use rigid enema tip in colostomy patients.
  • Do not take any laxative for more than one week, except on the advice of a physician.
Caution:

Care should be taken to ensure that the contents of the bowel are expelled after administration. Repeated usage at short intervals should be avoided.
